Mary Acton has worked on the conservation and restoration of ceramics, glass and related materials for the past 25 years. Her training includes gaining the 2 years full-time, post graduate diploma in Ceramic Conservation from the internationally renowned West Dean College affiliated to B.A.D.A. Prior to graduating she experienced internships with museums and galleries. Whilst studying, Mary lectured at Lewes Adult Education Centre in the Care and Conservation of Ceramics. Having completed an internship at the British Museum. She then freelanced in a busy commercial workshop in London. She setup her own business in Dorset 15 years ago.

In 2002 she became accredited with ICON (The Institute of Conservation), a status that can only be obtained by experienced and technically capable conservators. Accreditation is a bench mark of quality and is used to define standards in conservation.

Her clients are national and international. Also included are museums, The National Trust, Historic Houses Association and many other heritage organisations and private sector institutes.
