Information

Gruline house, Macquarie house and Gruline Cottages are part of a small estate in a secluded setting on the north side of Loch Ba in a very beautiful part of central Mull.

Loch Ba is a freshwater loch about a mile inland from Loch na Keal. it is three miles long and is the remains of a double caldera of an extinct volcano of some geological interest.

The loch has salmon and sea trout fishing in season (end June to October). A boat may be hired by arrangement. Permits for the upper north bank of the river Ba (about 1.5 miles) are also available. There is also a hill loch (brown trout) about an hour’s energetic walk away.

Deer, particularly fallow, roam freely. Eagles, both golden and white-tailed, can be seen soaring, with the latter sometimes fishing.

Bluebells, daffodils, rhododendrons and wild flowers are abundant. it is ideal for sketching, wandering around with binoculars, sitting by the loch etc.

Dogs are allowed at Maclean and Keeper’s Cottages only.
