Information

The New Inn at Llanddewi Brefi provides the friendly welcome of a traditional Public House with a large selection of real ales and the warmth of a real fire. During the summer enjoy the beer garden and the views of the beautiful Brefi valley.

The Village of Llanddewi Brefi is in the second largest Parish in Wales and historically one of the most famous. It has a long and significant place in the history of Wales dating back to Roman times. In the 1st Century the Romans set up a camp and baths at Llanio Isaf called Loventium and later built their road Sarn Helen. Subsequently in 520 A.D. the Patron Saint of Wales, St David strategically chose this place for the famous Synod to refute the Pelagius Doctrine. People from North and South and towards the western coast would have most easily heard his message and established until today the Christian Church in Wales. Such was the importance of the site that at one time the University was going to be built here at Llanddewi Brefi. The Roman camp and road system, the important focus of early Christian Tradition in Wales and the site for secular learning has been the foundation for continuing economic and social development in this village and Parish. Llanddewi Brefi is well known across Wales, the United Kingdom and throughout the world by people from all walks of life.
