Information

Townhead Farmhouse was built in the 18th Century and is a charming Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the lovely village of Bonsall near Matlock making it an ideal location to discover the Peak District and the Derbyshire Dales.

Bonsall is an old lead-mining village on the edge of the Peak District. The Limestone Way passes through the village and the Midshires Way is close. We are in the middle of some excellent walking and cycling country, with rare wild flowers, rocks, rivers and ancient trackways. The village has two attractive pubs both doing good snacks and main meals. The Barley Mow is famous as a music venue on Friday and Saturday nights, and is the home of the famous Hen Racing Championships in August. Bonsall is very close to the historic area of Cromford, home of the Arkwright Mills. Matlock Bath is less than three miles away by car or a stunning walk across the hill tops.

Caroline and David came to Bonsall in November 2012. In previous lives we worked for a Local Authority (Caroline) and IT Project Management for a Pharmaceutical company (David). We have been astounded by the friendliness and beauty of this community and hope that our visitors enjoy it as much as we do!

We share our home with our delightful Springer Spaniel – Monty.
